Lectionary Prayers: Prayers for Luke 16:1-13

Call to Worship:
This morning we are thankful for the grace of Jesus.
Remind us to extend compassion to one another.
We give thanks to God for all the servants who have given us examples of steadfast faithfulness.
Amen. Let us worship God together!

Prayer:
Triune God, you are a holy mystery. Your spirit calls us one-by-one to live in unity with our sisters and brothers around the world. May our worship today be a witness to the kind of unity that comes through this love. Amen.

Lectionary Prayers: A prayer for Psalm 1

Loving God,
Tree of Life,
We are grateful for your revelation to us in Holy Scripture.
We are grateful to listen now in prayer.

silence

Spirit, we pray for those in our church family and those in our hearts.
In illness, we pray for healing and comfort and strength.

Spirit, we pray for peace in our world.
We pray for those in harm’s way.
We pray for those grieving and afraid in war.
We pray for our leaders - our government and our military.
In conflict, we pray for peace, clarity, and compassion.
Through anxiety, remind us to be centered in you.
For being rooted in you is to be grounded in steadfast love.

Jesus, we are thirsty. Remind us that you are our living water.
Remind us of that living water through the prayer you taught us to pray saying ...

Lord's prayer

Lunches for your family

When I wake up late, lunches make me angry. I scramble to make something – anything. I have learned that the best lunch for my morning rush is a lunch I made the night before. Tips:

  • After dinner, package all your leftovers in single-serving reusable containers. Don’t put things in one big Tupperware. It’s easy to do, but resist the temptation. 6:45 a.m. you will be grateful.
  • When you unload the groceries, package your non-perishable snacks – almonds, pretzels, peanuts –  in teeny reusable containers. Like those ½ cup ones.
  • Package cupcakes or cookies in single serving reusable containers.

Stack these things on top of each other. Throw an apple on top of that stack and voila – you have made a lunch. And it’s only 6:46 a.m. Go you.

Who am I

I hope to be a woman helping my family be in tune with our God, with our earth, and with each other.

You do to? Let’s talk together.

I am married, a mother of two, and a mainline pastor in Austin, Texas. Like many Austinites, I am connected to nature and to the cloud. I am high tech and traditional. I look forward and appreciate what those before me have taught. Here, I want to share basics on teaching faith to children. I want to share what I have learned about being a working mom (like easy meals, for example).

That’s what we talk about here. Join us.
